With a lump in my throat, I left my camera in my purse and all of the hugs and kisses and I love you’s I wanted to leave them with---as I’d promised! This is how they left the house. Reed was all smiles when I walked him in—so excited to be a BIG 3rd grader and Wes was thrilled to be in 1st grade! I was a little sad, but I do have to say that I am very proud of my independent boys!

Busy weekend!

We had a pretty busy weekend filled with soccer games and birthday celebrations! Wesley had his first soccer game of the season on Friday evening and Reed's Saturday morning. Both boys are really good at soccer--of course football will always be Reed's favorite sport, but I think that Wesley has found his favorite in soccer. David's younger brother's birthday was on Saturday so we went to dinner with him and all of our friends with April birthdays at Pearl's Oyster House and then out to the grand opening of the new Raiford's afterward. We had a great time--it was nice to be able to go downtown thanks to finding a last minute sitter!!! On Saturday Jason and Matt came over for a home cooked birthday dinner--steaks and lobster for me! David is a great chef!

Yesterday, we loaded up the car and all headed to Spruce Pine to pan for gems. It turned out to be a great trip. We all had so much fun sifting through the rocks to find our very own treasures. We found LOTS! Rubies, emeralds, sapphires, garnets, citrine, quartz and lots and lots more! I am actually having three of the stones cut for jewelry--and many more could have been--we're saving those for later!! I highly recommend doing this--I had just as much fun as the boys!

Now that I am here I can blog! My internet connection is not allowing me to download pictures and we haven't figured out how to fix the situation--so I'll do my best while I'm in NC and then will work on getting things figured out at home.

There will be more pictures to come these are just a few from our first day. Reed has become quite the unwilling subject in my pictures---but don't be upset Wes is still a HUGE ham!!!

If you know Grandmother, you would never believe someone with so much energy was 80 and she shows no signs on letting anything slow her down! I just got back from the Mexican cruise with my Mom's two sisters. It was so nice to get to spend some one on one time with my two aunts. We had lots of laughs!!! It was a 5 day cruise and we stopped in Progresso and Cozumel.

We had another football filled weekend, but the real fun this weekend was AFTER the game! Wesley played a great first game. The Eagles scored several times and pulled lots of flags.

Way to go 2PC Eagles!!!!

Afterward the boys had a birthday party to go to at the fire museum downtown.

Then...we were off to game #2. The Rams played the 2nd grade Eagles and suffered their first loss. That's okay, though, because Reed's best friend is on the Eagles team---so all is fine! The boys tried hard, but just couldn't hold those Eagles back. This is Wesley after enjoying an ice cream sandwich.

It was a beautiful sunny Saturday and we ALL decided to come out to watch Reed--even Rouxdy!!!

Reed's team the Rams played there 3rd game of the year against the Titans. The Rams won, keeping there undefeated status. Wesley's team, the Eagles, had another practice to prepare for their first game--next Saturday. Go teams!

Okay, so everyone thinks their grandparents are great, but I have to let my Mom and Steve know just how incredibly special they are to my boys. I was going through Reed's backpack from school yesterday and I found this:

I know it is hard to read. It is titled My Favorite Summer Day. It says," I enjoyed going to Grandfather Mountain. We got to read about animals. We got to look at gold and crystals. We got to go on a swinging bridge. I had a lot of fun!"

This was when he went to my mom's while we were in London at the VERY beginning of summer and we did lots of fun things this summer. I LOVE that he chose this as his favorite summer day. Thank you so much Granny and Pop for creating such wonderful memories for the boys. We LOVE you!!!!!

He loved his homemade outfit (they are making the puppy dog ears as a craft at school today)---if I had only known that was all it takes to make him a very happy boy, I'd make him a costume every day! We had a very busy Saturday to say the least. It started at 8am with Welsey's first flag football practice. He was so excited and did really well running and throwing.

Then we were off to Reed's football game at 10am. The Ram's won again and Reed scored several TD's! So we are holding tight to our undefeated status (game 2).

To all of you that worried along with us, Rouxdy is HOME!!!! To those that don't know, our dog (who has been part of our family since before the kids were born) was lost for a couple of days. Apparently he left Thursday night (rain and thundering while I let him out to go to the bathroom---dog owners know what I mean) and was picked up that night by some dog lovers. He spent the next week with 4 other dogs and sleeping in the owners bed. They were actually UPSET to find out that we wanted him back. Can we say SPOILED! Now we can't get him out of our bed!!!! What a lucky AND loved dog!!!!

We're having a great time at the beach. So far Gustav has not shown up and the weather has been perfect. Looks like we'll be staying for an extra day or two because of the contraflow traffic (which is fine with me :)) Hope everyone is safe!

Wesley and Reed have now officially started Kindergarten (doesn't he look happy, it's very early in the morning that is all I can say) and 2nd grade. We have ALL had a big adjustment with the early morning wake up call.

Just to prove that the day DID get better!!!

Probably the reason why my child is so cranky in the morning.....staying up WAY to late doing things like this. I swear I try to get him to bed at a descent hour!!!!!

I love getting the chance to go to Lafayette, but this one was extra special. I welcomed our first girl, Elizabeth Grace, to the family and had a special visit with my amazing friend Kellie and her baby girl Mamie. I love ya'll!!!!!!!

David and I had such a great trip to New Orleans. We ate at some great places in the quarter and loved having a tiny get away, just the two of us. I've included a few pictures of our friends the Akers--Jason, Laura, Miss Alexis, and sweet Jess. We had a great supper on the lake catching up with them. Thanks for making our trip so memorable!

Wesley and I had such a great time visiting Uncle John and Aunt Julie and Gage. Wesley and Gage are 4 months apart and are so close. I can just imagine when they are older. I love that they have each other and are so sweet together!

I had so much fun yesterday with the boys at the skating rink. Wesley had his first successful skating trip and Reed has mastered rollerblades and, ofcourse, I had to get out there and show the kids a few of my signature moves!

Those of you who know my friend Courtney Crowell, know that she is probably the funniest person you've ever met. This is her and her boyfriend, Dave, at the Price is Right taping in Las Vegas. She watched this show religiously during the summer when we were young. And, YES, just like a the super fan that she is, they had t-shirts made to commemorate their visit to the show. For some reason, I'm pretty sure she probably got autographed pics of Drew Cary and the PIR models. Glad you had such a great trip Crowell--you deserve it!!!!

Chattanooga for a night

David the boys and I headed off to Chattanooga on Friday for a one night getaway with the boys. We had lots of fun and were pleasantly surprised with how much there was to do in down town Chattanooga for kids.

First we had a pit stop at Sweeney's BBQ.

Headed out to dinner that night. Wesley was very GQ and wanted is picture taken on every block, as we walked to the restaurant.

Memphis BBQ Fest 2008

Okay, so I know this was a while ago, but what goes better with the 4th of July than good ol' barbecue, anyway???? Plus, this is something that David waits the entire year for...

Memphis in May BBQ festival!!!

We all had so much fun and REALLY full bellies by the time we came home. We had some special visitors to help us celebrate, Uncle Bryan and Aunt Ashley. She was such a trooper. Not only does she really not like BBQ--I know blasphemy---but she was also about 8 months pregnant at the time. We also got to hang out with some dear friends from our Millsaps days, Chris and Lindsey Cockrell. Oh, and Uncle Jason was there, too!

Our 4th was filled fun, friends, fireworks, food, and a slip n slide. We started off at a friends for some yummy chicken and burgers and back yard fun, then we headed to the Germantown firework display just in time to see a great show! Hope everyone else had a great day.

Reed's school hosted an international day today and I am so proud of how much he is learning!

Reed with his poster with his assigned country Chile! We were VERY lucky in that Reed's second cousin Michele lived in Chile for a year--so we had LOTS of help from her! Thanks so much Michelle!!!!
The class came together (all dressed for their individual countries in South America) and sang for the parents. They did GREAT!

The weather has been so nice in Memphis the last few days, we've had a hard time staying in doors! Sunday afternoon we took a family trip to the zoo and had a GREAT time! David took about 5 million pictures of the animals (none pictured here) and a few of the boys that I am including. We skipped the petting zoo (promising that for "next time") because those of you who know me best, know that if something is capable of biting......it will bite me! I swear you name it, it's bitten me----the geese are the worst! Wesley "monkeying" around

Hi all!
We have had a great weekend. We had a combo of friends over last night for a fish fry. Our neighbors who have 3 boys--a 7 year old and 4 year old twins and our college friends Chris and Lindsey Cockrell along with my brother in law Jason and Jonathon Kelly. It was a crazy night and I would have never guessed in college that our friend Chris Cockrell would be such a hit with all of the kids! Thanks to everyone that made the night fun and participated in our WII challenge! No pics, we were having too good of a time to slow down for picture taking!
